Skiing, Cross Country

Nice weather out there today. 25 to 30 degrees and a very nice blanket of snow (about 8-10 inches on the ground). So I couldn't resist digging out the cross country skis and taking a quick turn around St. Andrews golf course. Reminds me of how much fun it really is. And it also reminds me that I need to take a look at getting some new skis. Mine are over 20 years old and they've been through the mill. Maybe time to head down to Scheels in Iowa City and see what they have to offer. But I'm not sure that I can't find exactly what I need online ... assuming I get the size right.

Alas, Poor Bicycle ...

Looks like riding is going to be pretty darn iffy for the rest of the year. Hope springs eternal, but I may have to start being more consistent with the Nordic Track or the Elliptical machine. It's just that it's so much more boring doing that than riding a bicycle in the great out of doors! (sigh)

Anyway, it's a good day for dancing and I plan on doing so tonight with my favorite gal ... hopefully the weather will cooperate but I don't think it will snow too much, but there seems to be snow *forever* in the weather forecasts for Cedar Rapids. Think positive!

Cold, Icy ... Time To Ride!

Cold out today (about 30 at 2pm) and there is still snow on the ground, not to mention the ice on my driveway. But the roads are in pretty good shape, if you can get to them from side streets. So I walked to the end of my driveway with the bicycle and off I rode. It was a pretty good ride but in some areas, the snow/ice forced me to be further away from the edge of the roadway than I normally prefer to be. However, with the time of day being between 2:15 and 3:15 pm, there wasn't much traffic to contend with so it worked out pretty well.

Tonight I decided to relax with a nice glass of wine and some cheese & crackers. I also got a little coffee bean grinder today and I'm having some good tasting coffee from time to time.
